How often do you feed your dog?

I’ve been looking into how often Jade should be fed and what I have come to understand is that she shouldn’t be fed more than twice a day based on her size. The articles I’ve read have also mentioned that she should be going to the bathroom maybe 2-3 times a day, if she only eats and drinks twice a day.

So today I started training her to only eat when given food. Normally we just leave he food and water in her crate for whenever she felt like eating. The reason I started doing this training is to get her into the habit of being out and about more around the house instead of just being in the kitchen all the time. This way she can roam and I don’t have to worry too much about her going to the bathroom everywhere besides just outside. I normally work from home twice a week and would like to spend more time with her in the living room when I work.

She did a great job today. No accidents and so far it worked out well. I’ll be doing this more often when I’m home. Jade also needs more exposure with the kids to play with her. She seems to like the kids and the kids really like hugging and sleeping on top of her I think my kids consider it to be cuddling, more than squishing her. Jade doesn’t seem to mind and she has been great with the kids ever since they were born.

Oatmeal, Peanut Butter, Coconut Oil and Banana Dog Treats

Before the year ended I finished all the dog treats mama had made for me a couple of weeks ago. So she tried a new recipe but added a few things. Mama ran out of the baby oatmeal from the last batch. So she used regular Quaker oats and used the food processor to grind it finely. Anyways, we hope you enjoy making these treats as much as we did. Ingredients: 1 1/4 cup Oatmeal 1/4 cup peanut butter 3 tablespoon Coconut Oil 1 medium banana Directions: Grind up oatmeal. Place in large bowl, mix in banana, coconut oil, and peanut butter. Create small balls and and then flatten them with a spoon Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 15-20 minutes. When done, leave in oven to cool. This makes the treats firm up.

Greenbelt Pet Expo

Jade attended the Greenbelt Pet Expo on Saturday June 1, 2019. It was her first outing since her surgeries. The expo was not too big, about a block, which had a good amount of friendly vendors. She met a few new people and dogs in the area. Most of the vendors were selling dog related products and the SPCA was there providing vaccinations for a small fee. I obviously had to get my puppy girl some treats. I even got to play in the Greenbelt dog park before heading home. It was an enjoyable day~! Please enjoy the photo's we took at the event. =)

I'm a Pumpkin

Hi, I'm Jade, I'm a puppy. Well, I'm not really a puppy anymore at 5 years old, but I will always be my mama's puppy girl. I am a mix of Yorkie and Pomeranian. So every year, mama dresses me up for Halloween. This year I will be rotating one of my costumes to be a pumpkin again. It wasn't easy getting me to keep the pumpkin hat on but mama was able to get a photo of me in my costume before I decided to take it off my head. I loves taking walks and playing with my rope. We take weekend strolls around the neighborhood with my family. I have met several new dogs along the way. I am very friendly and playful pup. If you give me food I will love you forever, what dog wouldn't? I also spends time with my mama working out in the mornings. I would consider myself her workout buddy that she can always depend on.
